Description

6mm Chainmail Sheet Riveted Solid: The best choice for those who like fine and flexible chainmail.

How big is it? This sheet is 13 x 53 inches respectively 33 x 136cm when you lay it flat. The weight is 8 pounds respectively 3.6kg. It contains about 13800 rings (yes, almost 14k). Half of them are riveted, half solid.

How do you use the Chainmail Sheet? This is a raw material for your homemade chainmail shirt, hauberk, skirt, and more. Working with the premade sheets saves you time. Plus it is free of false tailoring that you can get when you buy a shirt. Leave this confusion behind. Use these sheets to easily keep track of the 4in1-pattern. Design your own chainmail garments.

The 6mm chainmail sheet can be cut to length and wrapped around the chest to begin a well-fitting mail shirt. You can also cut it in half to make two tight-fitting sleeves. For a long-sleeved mail shirt, we recommend three of these sheets plus a pack of 6mm round rings.

How is the quality? This will massively save you time as opposed to working with loose rings only. Keep that in mind for you will find quite a few imperfect rings. Mainly it is the rivets sitting off-center or they need a little extra squeeze with the Riveting Tongs. Some of the solid rings are not perfectly circular and there can be sharp edges. I typically take these rings and replace them. It is still a massive time saver and I’m working with these myself.

What about historic accuracy? This comes especially close to Roman mail with comparably small rings in riveted solid fashion. Rings of this size persisted throughout times, yet gained popularity in the late Middle Ages and Renaissance. A good example is the mail pants in the MET.
