Description
6mm Flat Rings with Dome Rivets: With this pack, you choose tight and elegant chainmail. It is ideal for mail collars, bishops’ mantles, and even full shirts. The 6mm Flat Rings appear darker and denser than their round relatives. This is a 1 kg pack with rings and rivets in the right ratio.
Why flat? Historically, you find both types of rings flat and round throughout history. Round rings are a little more mobile. Flat rings appear denser at the same weight. Flat rings also optically match the solid rings best. Choose what optically appeals to you.
How is the quality? As with all our rings, we will be pen with you. We put a high value on flawless, perfectly shaped rings. In batches of this type, we typically find about 14% of rings that we would sort out. Mostly, it’s the rivet holes being off-center. That is surprisingly good for premade rings.
What about historic accuracy? Rings of this size and shape are amongst the finer weaves in history. This matches with 14th- to 16th-century originals from the Swedish Royal Armouries and the Chicago Museum of Art. With some stretch, it is also applicable to high medieval times. The rivets of original historic rings form half-dome shapes on the outside of a shirt, while they look flat on the inside. These rings have half-domes on both sides. That means with these 6mm flat rings, you can realize the desired look on the outside. And you easily achieve this look, no matter how you turn the rings.
These rings are compatible with our Riveting Tongs.
And here you find the matching 6mm Solid Rings for riveted and solid meshes.
